The Real Rosewood

Celebrating Black History Month, we were delighted to present Mrs Lizzie Robinson Brown Jenkins as she teaches us about the history of The Real Rosewood.
On January 1, 1923, a massacre was carried out in the small, predominantly black town of Rosewood in central Florida. The Rosewood Massacre was an attack on the predominantly African American town of Rosewood, Florida by large groups of white aggressors. The town was entirely destroyed by the end of the violence, and the residents were driven out permanently.
