Over 56 years of Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Service

Welcome to Our Website!

Kimberly B. Carter, President

Greetings,

It is my pleasure to open this 2024-2025 term as President of the Brevard County Alumnae

Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated with a renewed spirit for community

service, scholarship and social action. As we move FORWARD in our service to this community,

we are excited to collaborate with organizations that share our common goals and objectives.

We are dedicated to our sisterhood and providing public service in alignment with our

Sorority’s five-point Programmatic thrust: Economic Development, Educational Development,

International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health and Political Awareness

and Involvement.

Partnering with the Divine 9 and other local civic organizations will be key to

our collective success and making a positive impact in our community.

We appreciate this community’s support to our initiatives and projects in the past and we look

forward to that continued support.

If you are a member of our illustrious Sisterhood, new to the area or simply ready to reunite with us, we would love to see you and we welcome with open arms. Please reach out to me our any member of this organization for information.

Sincerely,

Kim

What is Delta?

SISTERHOOD * SCHOLARSHIP*SERVICE* SOCIAL ACTION

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was founded on January 13, 1913, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to those in need. The Founders of Delta Sigma Theta envisioned an organization committed to sisterhood, scholarship, service, and addressing the social issues of the time. Since its founding, Delta Sigma Theta has become one of the preeminent service-based sororities, with more than 300,000 initiated members and over 1,000 chartered chapters worldwide.

As a sisterhood comprised primarily of Black, college-educated women, the Sorority seriously considers the issues impacting the Black community and boldly confronts the challenges of African Americans and, hence, all Americans. Over the years, a wide range of programs
addressing education, health, international development, and the strengthening of African American families have evolved. The major programs of the Sorority are based upon the Five-Point Programmatic Thrust: economic development, educational development, international awareness and involvement, physical and mental health, and political awareness and involvement.

The Brevard County Alumnae Chapter was established on February 10, 1968 and is a part of the Southern Region of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., which includes all chapters in the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, and the paradise nation of the Bahamas. The chapter’s service area includes the cities of Cape Canaveral, Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Merritt Island, Mims, Port St. John, Rockledge, Scottsmoor, Sharpes, Titusville, and Viera.

The Brevard County Alumnae Chapter is committed to provide public service projects in the communities we serve under the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
